In 1994, we were exposed to the Vizsla breed! The beauty and grace as well as the hunting ability of the breed were what made us purchase our first Vizsla, Hannah. My wife Donna and our kids have grown to love the breed more as a pets and companions, while I enjoy the breed for their diligence in the field while hunting. Hanna was, and still is an incredible dog! While guiding groups at a local private hunt club, clients remark at how fantastic Hannah is at everything from locating & pointing birds to retrieving. Once home, Hannah snuggles in on the couch with us. Each breed has its positives attributes, but what really made my wife especially happy (and you know how you’re happy when your wife is happy) was the fact that the breed has short hair that’s easy to maintain and low shedding. Vizslas also love to be your companion and get close to you, and when you pet them, you don’t end up smelling like “dog”; as my wife puts it. Long story short, everyone in the household was happy with our new found breed! This, combined with the fact that I needed more than one guide dog for clients at the hunt club made us decide to become breeders. Having developed such a love for the breed, the most satisfying thing we experience from breeding is introducing the breed to other people and families. Many times we get phone calls, letters and pictures stating how happy people are with their puppy. It’s fun to hear how satisfied people are with their dog, whether it’s hunting, competing, or just having a new family member they absolutely love! Rick Mitchell
